From The Vault - (Circa 2000)

I drew these for the Baby Popeye license a while back (it only lasted about a minute) and I can't remember if they were ever printed, but I love the way they came out and they were a real burst of creativity I had back when I was still "happy" at my old job at KH.  I think I pumped these out in like, three days!  Anyway, there's also one more piece I really like from the bunch with Popeye on a sled going over a little snow hill, really cool, but I cannot find it.  I'll keep looking...enjoy.

Wow, those baby Popeye characters look great, bro.
You really have a niche with those pint-sized characters- you should do other well-known characters that way for kicks!

I'm diggin' the activity on this blog!!!

LOL!!! Thanks Charles, I'm trying to keep it alive even if I am cheating by putting up old stuff. It's just that it's really nice stuff I never showed anyone so I thought I'd share with you guys...but I am working on a couple of new things. And yeah I've been thinking about doing other characters and/or superheroes like this, but they never look "right" for some reason. I don't know, I'll keep trying...only thing is now since I own some of the Mighty Muggs figures, my drawings start looking like them!!! hahahaha!!! Oh well...thanks dude!

weird (only in that it's weird to see a baby popeye!!)but very cute looking license.

like that they're all black and white pencils only as well. reminds me of the OLD, OLD, OLD B/W popeye cartoons...if they were baby-fied that is.

Thanks Jason, I actually loved this license (not many I did like over the years) because I guess I love drawing baby characters or as you say, baby-fied. I may actually take Charles up on the idea of drawing some other adult characters baby-fied. I think that may be something I will enjoy.

Regardless of the license up and vanishing like a fart in the wind, these drawings are fantastic! Good thing you held onto them.

Hey thanks a lot Rob. I actually do like these a lot and you know me, I'm not happy with much of my work. I guess this was an inspired period at KH for me.
