These were done for Miro's dept. at KH and I think all of them sold except for the first one, the lizard. He was too unrecognizable so the client didn't buy him. I think he looks like a lizard...a weird one, that's all.
WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH OUR FRIEND!?!?
Seriously...nice to have you back! Man, what a backlog, but all awesome stuff! I'm especially lovin' these car creatures and the robots from the 'sticker' post. Would love to see some color added to these crazy hot rodders.
Hey thanks Rob. I'd been totally disillusioned with drawing for a bit but I'm over it now. I'll work on redoing these guys 'cause they're so old now...and possibly coloring them as well.
Yeah dude, I've just been lazy about posting most of it 'cause they're old and not very well drawn...but who cares anymore? I'll rework 'em just to practice.
WTF???? Are you trying to get a year's worth of posts in before 08 ends? (not that I'm complaining bro...) holy shite Jess-these are off the chain meng! I can understand MIro's crit about the Lizard...but the Shark and the Gator are top notch...they're so freakin cool! I want to mind meld with you and absorb your inking style...it looks so effortless! I was inking something today at work and referenced you to Drew Gold...you still got it man! I may hafta start checking this blog daily! keep em comin' jesus!
LOL!! Thanks buddy...hey listen, I wasn't born knowing how to ink, I used to be major sloppy, but I loved doing it and the discipline so I just did it a lot even for other peoples' drawings, ask Rob, back in the day when he and I were at Funstuff NY, I wasn't the inking shit back then! But just keep at it and you'll get really steady and good, trust me. Especially you, bro, you already have the drawing chops! I'm gonna try my best to keep posting...it's tough and some of us do it better than others but I'm gonna try real hard to do new stuff.
Um, Staedtler Lumocolor pens (F) point (which means fine) and regular thick tracing paper. I stopped using the inking vellum years ago only 'cause the ink takes waaaay too long to dry and my arm and hand constantly glide on the paper while I'm inking, turning the pad and switching inking angles (that's how I draw and ink, turning, like an animator but without the skills, hehe) so although the tracing paper has a tooth to it and you have to be very careful to not press too hard or it'll bleed profusely, I've become so good at it that it hardly bleeds. Plus, the Staedtler pens are pretty good about not bleeding when they're new...when they're not so new and the nib starts chunking up, then it's time to switch to a new pen. Hope all that helped. If you want a photo of the pens, I'll send it to you at home tonight.
Thanks Dan! You know, I did those so long ago I can't remember if I did use reference but most likely I did 'cause I don't have photographic memory for details like that so, I'm sure I did. I usually do and then I embellish on it so it doesn't look verbatim.
Thanks dude... And I totally know that, Charles...that's why I always check your guys' stuff and laugh at all your comments on mine! lol I'm gonna try my best to keep up with the rest of you.

Jess, do you remember what you inked these with? And were they done on vellum?
